A member asked:

How do problems with the tricuspid valve affect pulmonary hypertension?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

TV,PH: Complicated question and probably not enough room here to expound. In the face of significant pulmonary hypertension, tricuspid stenosis can impair cardiac output and exacerbate fluid retention like edema and ascites. Tricuspid insufficiency can do similar things for slightly different physiology but similar endpoints. You might read this: http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/health-topics/topics/pah/
