Yes: Filling with amalgam can definitely be replaced with tooth colored restorations. Be aware though, that after replacement, the teeth may be sensitive for awhile due to the procedures.

Of course: However, they are safe and durable choice. Most research finds no relationship between fillings and symptoms of mercury poisoning or other side effects.. See your dentist for evaluation, x-rays and treatment if needed.
