A 35-year-old member asked:

Do you know are amalgam fillings in teeth the same as mercury ?

Dr. Theodore Davantzis

No, they are not: Amalgam fillings do not contain elemental mercury, rather mercury that is chemically bound to the other metals forming the amalgam. The mercury in your thermometer is not the same as your filling..... Right?

Yes, is the same: Dental amalgam fillings are gray or silver in color and are sometimes referred to as silver fillings or mercury fillings.
