A member asked:

Can a vegan get blood transfusions and organ transplants?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Becoming a vegan is a moral choice. If you refuse a needed blood transfusion / organ transplant, you are not talking about a decision to respect the lives and dignity of animals -- you'd be making a decision to die. And unlike the cult that refuses blood transfusions, you can't be thrown out for accepting something that others might not. Make choices on accurate information & what you deem right.
