A member asked:

Why shouldn't an rh- woman who hasn't had children get an rh+ blood transfusion?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sensitized: She'll make antibodies against D (the main Rh antigen) and these will cross the placenta and damage Junior if he/she is Rh positive. Generally, we don't give Rh-pos blood to Rh-neg people because they tend to destroy the transfused cells anyway, and who needs that?
