What is the very best type of pillow to combat neck pain?

Experiment: No one size fits all. If you move a lot during the night, consider a simple soft (foam) neck collar; it will go where you go. Other pillows vary in design, depending on whether you sleep on your side or back. Not aware of any for "tummy" sleepers. Be sure to strengthen your neck muscles, especially those that extend (hold your head up); this is probably more effective than any pillow.
