Depends: Firstly, discuss this w/ the doctor who put you on it. Secondly, it depends on the condition you are treating. Migraine dose differs from other pain, PTSD, mild depression and from major depression, etc. Lowest effective dose is best. Depends: Amitriptyline is used for a wide range of disorders and symptoms, ranging from depression and anxiety to headaches and other pain syndromes to insomnia. It is usually dosed from 25 to 150 mg, though doses outside that range are common. Depending on what you are taking it for, your prescriber may feel your dosage needs to be increased.
