Possible cyst.: At age 27, with no other symptoms, a midline lump on your neck is unlikely to be cancer. What could it be? There are congenital cysts that can arise in the neck (thyroglossal duct cyst-see pic). Benign nodules can occur in the thyroid. An infection can cause an enlarged hard lymph node. Your doctor might order an MRI or a biopsy. Try not to worry; cancer is the least likely possibility!
