Rhythms: The body follows rhythms and responds to environmental cues, such as light. Your waking up at 5-5:30 am seems to correspond to the change to standard time. The outdoors becomes lighter earlier according to the clock, but the body responds to the light and the established rhythm, not the time. if you establish a new rhythm, the body will adjust gradually.

Depression?: Early awakening is often, but not always, due to depression. If one suspects that is the case consult with your physician as medication and/or counseling may be indicated. For a good guide to depression and treatment SEE bit.ly/1xUALOL Interestingly, two evenings of exposure to bright light improves early awakening for the following month. May be more helpful if no depression.SEE bit.ly/1xdjIr
