Adhesions: Abdominal adhesions develop in the body as a result of inflammation from surgeries. They are more common after multiple procedures, consist of band-like tissue that binds the internal organs in abnormal ways, and can create pain, discomfort and dysfunction. The presence of this material distorts normal anatomy and makes repeat surgical procedures more difficult.
