Nothing is permanent: If OTC cleansing agents are not helping, you need to get Dermatology consult for proper treatment. Some times Benzoyl Peroxide initially dries the skin and you may feel it is flared up more,Also proper use of Moisturizing cream helps.

Not necessarily: You may have dryness and scaling at the start of many acne treatments. It gets better over time as you get used to it. Consider talking to your doc about using less often at first. Also, overscrubbing, hot water, other skin care products that are not hypoallergenic. Use lipstick and eye cosmetics but avoid face makeup and powder for now. Call your doc if worse, painful, hot, red, have pus.
