No sure what part of: your ear hurts. One may have an external ear infection - otitis media which may present with discharge. One may have an infected cyst- would likely be tender to palpation. Middle ear infection is also a source of pain. Your physician can likely determine the cause of your pain. Take care.

Ear pain: Not clear as to whether it is your external ear or inside the ear canal. If external pain to touch with redness and swelling, concern about an infection in the cartilage would be one possibility. If inside, the otitis media or externa could be present. The fact it persists for a week suggests seeing your doctor might be the wise choice.
