Asthma treatment: Cough variant asthma may be what you are describing. Step wise asthma treatment can be helpful with steroid inhalers and bronchodilators. If spasms are severe, adult pertussis may be possible treated with antibiotics. Medical evaluation with breathing tests, xrays, blood tests. Of course smoking cessation, avoidance of dust and asthma triggers is helpful, sleep in a dust free environment.
