Depends: Distended veins noticeable on the outside wall of the abdomen may represent liver congestion in people with certain risk factors such as heavy alcohol use. Similarly, distended veins noted on endoscopy may also represent liver congestion. The reason for liver congestion ranges from fatty liver and hepatitis to heart failure. Suggest you have an in-person exam to further assess.
