Varicocele: Sounds like you have a varicicele which are varicose veins of the spermatic cord. They can cause pain sometimes if large and in some men can cause infertility. You should see a urologist to get examined to determine if treatment is necessary

Possible varicocele.: Veins swell when either the valves are incompetent or if there is slight blockage. The veins from the L testicle empty into the renal vein, high inside the abdomen, so it is not uncommon to get varicose veins on the left side that are noticeable with standing and shrink when lying down. If the remain, or are on the right, I would consult your doctor. Also, if it is very large or uncomfortable.
