Probably unrelated: Sometimes a change in the amount/consistency of saliva can affect taste, as can dry mouth. Medications, perhaps prescribed by your doctor to aid in weight loss, can contribute as can some vitamin deficiencies including B12. Typically, more taste sensations (not just sweet/sugar/honey) would be affected. Change in taste should be evaluated as it can also signal a nervous system problem.
