Plenty: Most narcotics and controlled substances make you nauseated and increase the chance or drug addiction. For a torn rotator cuff I'd recommend a shoulder immobilizer/sling so it doesn't move. You can ice over that. If over the counters aren't covering the pain a steroid pill or shot could be considered. You could see your doctor for other alternatives. Good luck

Physical Therapy: For a rotator cuff tear physical therapy should be helpful reduce pain and improve function. Occasional corticosteroid injections into the shoulder area also help. For persistent pain topical NSAIDS such as diclofenac gel or Salonpas might help.
