Swelling/deviation: Swelling of the nasal mucosa including the septum and turbinates due to allergies or sinusitis results in congestion. Also, structurally the nasal septum may be deviated (bent) causing obstruction. Nasal steroid spray, decongestants, antihistamines and saline may help chemically, Breathe rite strips may help structurally. Both are temporary. See ENT as septal surgery may also be indicated.
