Road Trip: Hydrate well with water. Get up and walk around every couple of hours. While you are sitting in the car you can squeeze and release muscles in feet, calves, thighs and buttocks.

Increased risk, yes.: Not moving for a long period of time such as a long plane or car ride is just one of many risk factors for developing DVT. Medication such as some birth control pills, and other medical conditions (cancer, heart disease) are some other risk factors. One can decrease risk by moving about such as walking, doing leg exercises or consider compression stockings.
