The vast: majority of Upper respiratory infections are viral and therefore Augmentin nor Amoxicillin will help. Time is the best cure and remember you may have symptoms for a week or more. Usually no more than Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin is needed but certain other 0ver-the-counter cough/cold medicines. Antibiotics should be reserved for complicated/ severe cases.
