A member asked:

This is for a psychiatrist, my wife was prescribed 200 mg of lamictal, abilify (aripiprazole) and nortriptyline. what is the chances she will develop apathy from lamictal from itself or from medicine interaction?

There are no: recognized drug interactions between the three. Apathy is not really a side effect of Lamictal but anxiety, ataxia, irritability, emotional lability and impaired thinking are.

Quite possible: Three drugs you would expect to be used only in a complicated situation. But, this is currently often used in minor blahs (not even major depression), or 'moodiness'. Drugs have side effects. More drugs have more than a linear increase in them (due to interactions). All drugs mentioned have apathy, sedation, zombification as common side effects. Cannot say if worth it in your situation.
