A member asked:

Was told pain in my index finger was gout, they did no test. now the rest of my fingers have a numb feeling and a pain shot into my wrist. is this gou?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Lab tests?: Gout is defined by a buildup of urate crystals in joint fluid and a very painful arthritis. There are definite ways to make the diagnosis, simply pain in fingers and/or wrist does not make this diagnosis, it takes more than that, usually a sample of joint fluid to analyze -discuss with a rheumatologist or ortho to Help confirm diagnosis
