Not contagious: Hidradenitis suppurativa is not contagious. Unfortunately it may lead to scarring. If there is a persistent swollen area it is important to make sure there is no active abscess. it is not contagious per se, but if you become colonized with a resistant bacteria, there is some risk that you can spread that bacteria, but you will not spread the hidradenitis.
