What does "acute" mean? eg acute tonsillitis

Acute v. chronic: Exact time cutoff is 6 months. Bur sometimes diseases are "recurrent" acute over >6month period. You can get many bouts of tonsillitis (or colds, allergic rhinitis, back pain, etc.) >6 month period, but that does not make it chronic.

Acute=new: An acute condition is one that has recently developed, vs. chronic meaning long standing.
