Finger infected: If a finger becomes very painful after removing a cactus spine, especially if you can't move it, or if the finger is swollen and warm it's likely a bacterial infection in the finger. This needs urgent attention because if the infection gets worse it can damage the delicate structures in your finger and you could loose some function.
