Hordeolum / Stye: Sounds like a classic "stye" or hordeolum. The white discharge is not infectious, it is stagnant oil and inflammatory response from your normal oil gland. Clogging of the oil gland that makes oil for the eye leads to this condition. Treatment is warm compresses, and sometimes incision and draining. Warm compresses usually work. I have had patients take a year for it to completely clear.
