Try other vs see doc: All proton pump inhibitors (to suppress stomach acid) are said in some studies to be as effective as each other. In clinical practice, we see that some respond better to 1 than another.Lansoprazole (Prevacid), esomeprazole (Nexium), omeprazole/bicarb (Zegrid) are options. Gaviscon after meals & at bedtime + 1/day omeprazole (Prilosec) is good. However, worsening symptoms despite treatment = see doc.

Possibly: Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)/ indigestion breaking through an adequate dose of a strong medication like Prilosec should prompt a visit to a Gastroenterologist. Sometimes a higher dose or a medication that provides a physical barrier, like Carafate, (sucralfate) can help, but the doctor will want to rule out ulcer, bacterial infection (helicobacter pylori) and other unusual problems like cancer.
