Continue ibuprofen: as Vicodin is an addictive narcotic which may develop tolerance and require more and more for pain relief. It is also now a schedule 2 drug which prohibits refills. You can take 800mg of ibuprofen every 8 hours if needed and the prescription strength is not scheduled and may be refilled for up to 1 year.
