Yes: The medicine in vicodin works on different pain receptors than ibuprofen. In addition, Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory where vicodin is not.

Yes: I know this online forum is here to answer questions but i think it's also imperative that patients tell their physicians everything they're taking. And buy all their medications from same pharmacy so pharmacist can look for interactions too (doc should do so too). And in this day & age, patients have same access to drug interaction database as physicians. Yes, vicodin & Ibuprofen can be taken tog.
