How long will i take aspirin after asd closure by amplatzar?

Several months: The amplatzer device will eventually be covered by the inside lining of the heart but this process will take a couple months to occur. Until that time, taking Aspirin will be benficial becuase it should avoid clots to form on the device.

Aspirin for ASD: You would normally take Aspirin for approximately 6 months after an amplatzer unless there are other reasons for you to be on it. Check with your physician if you feel you are on Aspirin for longer than you need to be.

6 months: This is the time needed for complete coverage of the device with your own tissue. Also please make sure you stick to endocarditis prophylaxis for 6 months after closure of the defect.
