It can help: Hi. Healthy lifestyle (healthy diet, regular exercise, no smoking) is considered the first line of defense against developing type 2 diabetes from prediabetes. But metformin has also been shown to be helpful. It's perfectly fair and valid to do healthy lifestyle AND metformin. Good luck!

Prediabetes.: Medications are not necessary for prediabetes, only lifestyle measures such as high fiber diet with complex carbohydrates, smaller more frequent meals, leaner proteins, regular aerobic exercise and weight training and weight reduction if necessary. Supplementing cinnamon and chromium can help as well.
