A member asked:

Why do i have a lot of mucus or phlegm after eating cereal and cookies ? should i cut down the consumption of gluten?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Elimination diet: "Gluten enteropathy" or "celiac sprue" is an autoimmune response to gluten which causes delayed intestinal problems. Wheat ALLERGY, on the other hand, can cause immediate symptoms like mucus and phlegm. Eliminate wheat, barley, oats and rye from your diet for a while. Then reintroduce them one at a time to see what products provoke your symptoms. More info @ MayoClinic.org/disease-conditions.
