COPD is not likely triggered or exacerbated with alcohol. Those symptoms can be manifestations of the intolerance of your upper airway to alcohol, almost an allergic reaction, and that turns out to be good for you because that intolerance keeps you away from alcohol. Some people have to take a medication, antabuse, for abstaining alcohol because that medication makes them very sick after drinking.

Alcohol is a poison that never did anybody any good, ever, so stay away from it. It will destroy your brain cells, damage testicular cells that make testosterone, facilitate development of cancer in many organs, cause hepatitis, cirrhosis and pancreatitis etc. There is no safe level of alcohol intake. Quit while you are ahead.
