Let me be: Clear nothing is wrong with you because 40 mg of Celexa (citalopram) is not working for you. If Celexa (citalopram) worked for everyone then we would just have that one medicine. It is not unusual to need to try several anti depressants or a couple together or to try medicine and therapy or therapy alone. Go back to see your doctor, explain it is not working for you. Ask about therapy too. You can feel better. Okay !

Therapy?: Are you getting any psychotherapy? Meds by themselves take the edge off symptoms on their best day, but the real grunt work of depression takes place in psychotherapy. Get a referral to a reputable psychotherapist to discuss what depression means TO YOU.

It might be: That you are not responding to this particular medication. There are plenty of other choices for a different medication that may work better. Also, seeking help and psychotherapy is useful as the medication will not cure you by itself.
