Many things: Many things can make you prone to kidney infection such as: kidney stones, blockage in the urinary tract, bacterial overgrowth, pregnancy and hygiene. Make sure you follow up closely with your doctor. Take care.

Need testing done: Your DR is sorting through a multitude of possibilities. The scan will give information about the kidneys, the ureters(tube connecting the kidney to the bladder). After this test results are available, you will have the possibilities narrowed down considerable and will prob have the correct dx. It certainly appears your DR is giving great care. Follow his instructions and get the testing done
