Facet syndrome: The likely cause of the pop in your back is a facet joint. Facet joints are found at each level in the spine, one on each side, toward the back while the disc is in the front of the vertebrae. Facet joints become arthritic. They are aggravated when you are in an upright position, especially sitting. When bending forward the open up and can pop. not usually serious other than when painful.
