Depends....: Pneumonia can be a very serious complication in a cancer patient. But, the severity depends on what type of cancer and what treatment the patient is undergoing. For example, chemotherapy can weaken the immune system which makes it more difficult for the patient to fight off the infection. It also depends on how quickly the infection was diagnosed and treated.
