Follicle:pregnancy ?: A dominant follicle of the size described "5 days prior to a period" is probably more accurately a small ovarian cyst without a viable egg within. So probably not. Ovulation is a process of breaking the follicle and allowing the egg to be available for fertilization: it occurs 14 days prior to a menstrual period. A "follicle" 5 days before a period is usually not one which can produce pregnancy.
