A 26-year-old female asked about a 7-year-old male:

my 5yr old has a constant 102 fever since yesterday. this morning it peaked to 104 and now 102. been giving him motrin, should i take him to er?

Maybe: The fever in and of itself is not a cause for concern. You can manage the fever by alternating ibuprofen and acetaminophen every 2-3 hours and by tepid baths. The question is what are his other symptoms? If he is having respiratory distress (breathing hard, heavy or fast), appearing lethargic or in pain, then an immediate trip to the ER is necessary.
