What does bilobed subserosal fibroid mean??

6 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

2 parts: It means that it's a single fibroid with two parts (bilobed) and it is located beneath the lining or covering of the uterus (serosa) ie on the outside of the uterus. Fibroids may be on the outside (subserosal), in the uterine wall (intramural) or beneath the inside cavity lining (submucosal) or in the cavity (intramural).

Outer part of uterus: 3 types of fibroids based on location in uterus. Submucosal: central uterus,up against lining, Subserosal:outermost edge of uterus, Intramural: in between 2 in muscular middle of uterus. Bilobed means composed of 2 parts although what looks bilobed on imaging may be 2 separate fibroids that are next to one another. Location of fibroids can determine symptoms, if it's bilobed that is not important
