Poor prognosis: Small cell lung cancer is an aggressive malignancy. Grade III refers to how abnormal-looking the cancer cells are. Grade III is quite abnormal. Broadly speaking, there are two stages of the disease: limited to the chest, and extensive (beyond the chest). AVERAGE life expectancy without treatment is a matter of months. I recommend she consult an oncologist. Some oral therapy might help.
