A member asked:

What is the best otc yeast infection medication? if i know it's yeast for sure, is taking otc just as good as getting an prescription from my doctor?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Preference.: The otc ones are all about the same. The otc creams and tablets can some times cause local irritation and burning (but they also can relieve symptoms about a day or so sooner than the prescription tablet diflucan). Diflucan (fluconazole) is more convenient to take, but can cause GI symptoms like stomach upset - and doesn't work any significantly better than the otc meds.
