would a hot washcloth take pain away in your buttock?

Depends on the cause: It depends on why you are having pain. It likely would not hurt you to put a hot washcloth on it, but I would recommend seeing a healthcare provider to evaluate your pain if it continues. It is hard to determine online without being able to do a physical exam.

Depends...: It all depends on what is causing the problem. If muscular pain it hot compresses can help relieve symptoms. However, in order to give you an accurate answer we would need to know what other symptoms you are experiencing at this time.
