First headache: Take 400 mg Motrin and try some caffeine. Sleep should get rid of it. Keep track of headaches. See a doctor if you get more than 6 a month or if they are disabling.

See a doctor: If this is your first severe headache. Migraines are best treated with prescription medications. Over the counter medications like Tylenol (acetaminophen) and ibuprofen can cause rebound headaches. If you can't get to a doctor, lay in a quiet, dark room with a cool cloth for your head and try to rest.
