Possibly: when teeth move they sometimes get sore. You ought to have your Orthodontic Specialist check to make sure that you are not in traumatic occlusion. Your Orthodontist can then review pain management techniques with you.

Not likely: Braces can cause tooth pain, though it's typically not severe and doesn't last for very long time. The tooth is probably just moving. Take Tylenol (acetaminophen) or NSAIDs for pain control. If pain is severe, see your dentist for evaluation.
