Jumpers knee: The patellar tendon is below the knee. The quadriceps tendon is above the knee.this is most likely patellar tendon night is. Your physician can evaluate you and see what the best therapy is.

Patellar tendinitis: Patellar tendon attaches patella (kneecap) to your shin bone (tibia). Sounds like you're describing patellar tendinitis- swelling & irritation of tendon. Often due to overuse - too much activity without enough rest, change in training regimen, technique issues, issues with footwear. If quad is tight/injured, can change your form - stress the tendon. Try ice, rest, NSAIDs, patellar cross straps.
