I suspect you mean a: problem with Active Working Memory. Short-Term Memory is what's in your consciousness for up to 20-30 seconds. AWM is holding onto information while you manipulate it or till you have to use it. An average adult can hold 7 items in AWM, e..g., a phone #, till they dial the sequence. Aging, stress & fatigue impact AWM. Many memory aids help, like repeating out loud what you need to remember.
