Unclear: Short-term memory loss at age 45 is unusual. Sometimes depression can cause this symptom. Also, medical conditions such as hypothyroidism and B12 deficiency. See if you have any other symptoms, and check yourself for those conditions. In an otherwise completely healthy adult without symptoms, short-term memory loss needs to be evaluated by a physician.
