Other than a biopsy, is there another way to see if someone has bladder cancer?

Bladder cancer: There are highly suggestive findings such as blood or imaging, but ultimately the definitive diagnosis upon which treatment can be planned requires cytology or exam of suspicious tissue by the pathologist. Cancer is not just cancer. Treatments are planned based on the type of cells that have become malignant or invasive.

Yes, FISH testing: FISH stands for florescence in situ hybridization. The urine cells may be tested for abnormal chromosomal or genetic patterns that could indicate malignancy. Consult a urologist. Thanks for trusting HealthTap!
