It is typical to do biopsies from the different parts of tract: esophagus, different regions of stomach, duodenum. This is because even if the GI tract looks well it is possible to have abnormalities at the cellular level.

TA biopsy is usually involved and most of the times it would be to rule out possibility of an infection( H-Pylori) and other times if some abnormality is noted which needs biopsy done to get further information.
